Challenge

The visible challenge was to reproduce the appetizing food colors, tiny printed cup graphics, tangled noodle strands, crispy fried textures, and layered burger structure at a miniature scale.

Solution

• Step 1: The miniature food models were reviewed before printing, and areas such as the burger layers, noodle strands, drink cup, skillet dish, side plate, and small printed graphics were checked for manufacturability.
• Step 2: Full-color material settings were assigned to different food and container areas, including toasted bread, fried filling, cheese, noodles, browned cubes, creamy drink surface, cup graphics, plates, and pan details.
• Step 3: Support structures were generated around the overhanging burger layers, cup rim, pan handle, small food pieces, and fine noodle details to keep the miniature shapes stable during printing.
• Step 4: The model was produced with Mimaki full-color 3D printing, where UV-curable photopolymer inks were jetted and cured layer by layer to form the full-color details in one integrated print.
• Step 5: After printing, the water-soluble support material was removed from delicate areas, and the model was cleaned to reveal the fine surface details.
• Step 6: The finished miniature food set was cleaned and inspected to confirm that the colors, printed details, food textures, and overall appetizing display effect were clearly reproduced.
