About Project
YoRHa No.2 Type B of the game NieR: Automata is made to test how delicate the FDM 3D prints could be, and the outcome is very impressive. If look at it closely, the figurine of 2B has visible layer lines after polishing.
Solution
- Step 1: Split the figurine into head and body, then add joint structures to the parts. Check the minimum details and add supporting structures to the models.
- Step 2: Print the models with FDM 3D printing technology using FDM PLA, which is the most cost-effective solution for this application.
- Step 3: Take the prints from the plane. Adding a raft or skirt would make this process easier.
- Step 4: Polish the prints manually with a grater and sandpaper to remove the remaining marks.
- Step 5 Paint the base with acrylic paints, color the figurine body into silver with Tamiya spray lacquer, and hand paint her head with watercolor brush pens.
