3D Printed and painted Die Hardman mask with vivid carbon fiber texture water transfered, a perfect props for game cosplay.

Challenge

The carbon texture on the mask is a major challenge because it's hard to make the mask with real carbon fiber without making a mold.

Solution

To reduce the cost, we decided to use water transfer to coat the surface with vivid carbon texture on SLA generic resin material, which has excellent attachment to paints.

• 3D Printing: We 3D printed the mask with SLA generic resin
• Polishing: Polishing is manually conducted, to ensure the surface is smooth enough for painting and water transferring.
• Water transfering & Painting: The central piece of the mask is water transferred with carbon fiber texture template, and the cheek pieces are painted matte black, while the bolts are manually painted to a metalic brass/gold color.
