About Project

Bowel cancer is a general term for cancer that begins in the large bowel. Depending on where cancer starts, bowel cancer is sometimes called colon or rectal cancer.
It's also known as colorectal cancer, developing from the inner lining of the bowel, and is usually preceded by growths called polyps, which may become invasive cancer if undetected.

The professor, who is famous in the field of bowel cancer surgery, customized the tumor model from us. The tumor was so large that it even oppressed the vertebration and artery. Under such circumstance, the tumor model is vital for the preparation of the surgery.

Solution

  • Step 1: Image reconstruction of the tumor based on the CT scan data of the patient’s stomach. As it would be used as a surgery guide, the 3D model should be constructed of the tumor, the aorta abdominalis, the external iliac artery, the portal vein, the spleen, and the vertebration, etc.
  • Step 2: As the doctor and our engineer both consent with the 3D model after examination, the technician inputs the model into the 3D printer after slicing.
  • Step 3: 3D print the model with PolyJet Multi-Color in one piece, then post-cure it with UV.
  • Step 4: Adjust the details of the model with tools, then apply with UV-oil.
