In architecture and structural engineering, a space frame or space structure (3D truss) is a rigid, lightweight, truss-like structure constructed from interlocking struts in a geometric pattern. Space frames can be used to span large areas with few interior supports. The biggest challenge in 3D printing space structure lies in support removal. Sometimes it requires more materials for the supports than the part itself.
Solution
Step 1: Arrange the placement properly and add support structure to the curve part to save the materials for supports.
Step 2: 3D print the part with our industrial SLA 3D printer. SLA ABS-like Resin is used for its outstanding machinability.
Step 3: Cut off the supports, rinse with IPA, then post-cure with UV. Patience is needed for support removal in case it may break.
