The client designed a housing dock for his DIY electronics device. The sockets can hold all of the interfaces and make them look tidy, and the back has a mesh structure that allows fan cooling. Nearly all the FDM prints could be tapped if they are thick enough.
Solution
Step 1: As the electronics enclosure have some holes for tapping, we need to consider the shrinkage rate and avoid overhang structure. For the hollows that aims to hold the docks, the zigzag faces would make things easier to pull them out.
Step 2: Here we print the housing with FDM 3D printing technology using FDM PLA, which is the most cost-effective solution for this application.
Step 3: Take the prints from the plane. Adding a raft or skirt would make this process easier.
Step 4: Polish the prints manually with grater and sandpaper to remove the remaining marks.
