About Project
Have you ever seen a birdhouse quite like this? This unique cylindrical object with a hollow center and an open side might look like a work of modern art, but it's actually a bird's nest box created with cutting-edge SLA 3D printing technology.
Stunning Wooden Look with a High-Tech Twist
The box boasts a stunning wooden grain finish, achieved through a silk-screening process. From afar, the matte texture is incredibly realistic, mimicking the natural beauty of wood. But take a closer look, and you'll see the subtle unevenness of the surface – a telltale sign of the 3D printing process, adding a unique touch.
Eye-Catching Design and Functionality
This unique combination of high-tech creation and natural aesthetic creates a truly eye-catching piece. While the exact purpose of the open segment is unclear, its cylindrical shape and hollow center strongly suggest it's designed as a birdhouse. Imagine the wonder of attracting feathered friends to your garden with this innovative and stylish nesting spot!

Solution
- Step 1: A 3D model of the cylindrical nest box with its open segment was designed. This digital blueprint captured the precise dimensions and shape of the final product.
- Step 2: The model was uploaded to an SLA 3D printer. Using a laser beam, the printer meticulously cured layers of liquid SLA Generic Resin onto a build platform, solidifying the design one layer at a time.
- Step 3: Once the printing process was complete, the nest box was carefully removed from the build platform. Excess resin was then removed through a post-processing stage, ensuring a clean and defined final product.
- Step 4: The nest box underwent a silk-screening process. A fine mesh with a wooden grain pattern was placed on the surface, and a special ink was applied, transferring the intricate wood texture onto the 3D-printed object. This final touch added a realistic and aesthetically pleasing layer to the high-tech creation.
