About Project

Great Wall Motors Company Limited is a Chinese automobile manufacturer. It is China's largest sport utility vehicle (SUV) and pick-up truck producer. It sells passenger cars and trucks under the Great Wall brand and SUVs under the Haval and WEY brands.

A student has designed a pickup truck for a competition held by this national brand. He was inspired by the fact that many drivers refitted their pickups with cover as waterproof, and designed a pickup truck with a lid that can be lifted.

As the car model was composed of many small and subtle structures, also for the convenience of painting, we printed the model with the SLA 3D printing method and ABS-like resin. All the parts were polished and painted, while the main body was painted with chrome spray.

Solution

• Step 1: 3D modeling and decomposing after thorough communications with our customer.
• Step 2: 3D printing all the parts with SLA 3D printing, using SLA ABS-like model.
• Step 3: Post-processing includes support removal, polishing, and painting. The even and shinning silver surface is painted with chrome spray.
• Step 4: Assemble all the parts and test the lid.
