The size of this 2:3 scale car model has exceeded any of our industrial SLA 3D printers, thus splitting a model into smaller parts that can be combined after printing is a great solution. The stiffeners are designed and printed with the body to avoid deformation and provide convenience for combination.
Solution
Step 1: As the car is about 3 meter-long, exceeding our build volume of 2.4m*0.8m*0.8m, we recommend splitting the model and manufacturing them in four parts. With our industrial SLA 3D printers, the parts could be printed in an accurate shape, and qualified for the follow-up assembling process.
Step 2: Arrange the models in the software and add necessary supports. Then 3D print them with SLA Durable Resin. Considering the car does not have many delicate details, the layer thickness is set as 0.2mm.
Step 3: When printing is completed, rinse the models with IPA and post-cure them with UV. Cut off all the supports, then polish with sandpaper. Assemble the models into the car and bind the stiffeners. Finally, spray with putty over the car model to conceal the seams.
