The artist couple designed and created the project with two heads overlapped face-to-face called “I'm really into you.” The figurine is created from the scan of themselves. Blue epoxy resin is added to the hollowed sculptures to save the costs of resin.
Solution
Step 1: Scan the heads of the lovers with the handheld 3D scanner Sense Pro. Process the scans and combine the models in the software, then export an STL file.
Step 2: 3D print the hollowed model in one piece with SLA Clear Resin and our industrial SLA 3D printer. They set the layer thickness 0.1mm so the work could look more like a 3D printed stuff.
Step 3: When printing is finished, remove the supports and rinse it with IPA, then manually sand it. To make the layer lines visible, a 200-grit sandpaper is used.
Step 4: Stir the epoxy resin and polyfunctional hardener and blue pigment together evenly. Then pour them into the clear resin model. Let it rest for 24 hours.
