About Project
From a pig joyfully driving a red car, to five adorable fantasy girls in Chinese-style dresses, to a festive scene of sharks playing ping pong-these delightful miniatures are all brought to life through Mimaki's cutting-edge full-color 3D printing technology.
Mimaki's 3DUJ series printers are capable of producing over 10 million colors with photorealistic precision. Unlike traditional CMYK printing or hand-painting, this technology allows seamless color gradients, rich textures, and intricate details straight out of the printer-with no post-coloring required. The results are both eye-catching and production-efficient, perfect for creative industries, collectible toys, gifts, and character prototypes.
Each model in this collection showcases different aspects of what Mimaki excels at:
- The Pig in a Car: Vivid reds and subtle flesh tones highlight Mimaki's smooth blending and high accuracy.
- The Five Girls: Delicate facial expressions, colorful costumes, and floral accessories show off the ability to capture personality and cultural detail.
- Ping Pong Sharks: A playful scene filled with gradients, props, and animated expressions-perfect for commemorative art and themed decorations.

Solution
- Step 1: 3D Model Preparation. High-resolution 3D models were designed or provided by the client. Full-color textures and UV maps were applied to ensure accurate color placement during printing.
- Step 2: File Optimization. The 3D files were optimized for Mimaki’s printing software. Polygon counts were adjusted, textures were flattened and embedded, and color data was verified to align with CMYK profiles supported by the Mimaki 3DUJ printer.
- Step 3: Model Slicing. The models were sliced into ultra-thin layers using Mimaki’s proprietary slicing software. Each layer’s geometry and color data were translated into printable instructions.
- Step 4: 3D Printing. The models were printed layer by layer using Mimaki’s 3DUJ series printer. Photopolymer resin was selectively jetted and cured with UV light, with over 10 million color combinations possible directly in the print.
- Step 5: Support Removal. After printing, the models were carefully removed from the build platform. Water-soluble support material was dissolved in a water bath to avoid surface damage.
- Step 6: Surface Cleaning. Any residual support and resin particles were gently cleaned off the surface using air and soft brushes to maintain color integrity.
- Step 7: UV Post-Curing. The miniatures were placed in a UV curing chamber to fully harden the resin and enhance structural durability.
- Step 8: Final Quality Check. Each model was inspected for color accuracy, surface smoothness, and structural integrity. Minor surface dust was cleaned to ensure the models were presentation-ready.
