About Project

To celebrate our colleague’s wedding, we decided to turn their joyful moment into something truly special – a pair of AI-generated 3D printed miniatures.

The process began with a single wedding photo. Using AI, we transformed it into stylized 3D models with a cartoon-inspired aesthetic, a nod to the groom’s love for Doraemon. To make the scene even more endearing, we added a flower fox character modeled after FacFox’s mascot, Henry, dressed smartly and holding a bouquet to bless the couple.

The final figures were produced with FacFox’s WJP full-color 3D printing service, which captures every hue and texture in remarkable detail. The printing precision was so high that you can even read the characters on the miniature marriage certificates.

What began as a heartfelt gift turned into a demonstration of how AI modeling and full-color 3D printing can immortalize personal stories in vivid, tangible form.

Solution

  • Step 1: The couple’s wedding photo and design preferences – including a cartoon style inspired by Doraemon and the addition of Henry the fox – were gathered and analyzed.
  • Step 2: The photo was processed through an AI 3D generation model; the couple’s likeness was stylized into a single, cohesive miniature figure while preserving their key features, poses, and attire.
  • Step 3: A separate 3D model of Henry the fox holding a flower bouquet was generated, designed to complement the couple’s figure and complete the narrative scene.
  • Step 4: Both AI-generated meshes were refined; surface noise, non-manifold edges, and hollow errors were corrected to ensure printability.
  • Step 5: Textures and colors were adjusted and baked onto the models; the tones of clothing, skin, and accessories were matched precisely to the original reference photo.
  • Step 6: Minimum wall thickness and fine details, such as the marriage certificate text, were optimized to meet WJP full-color printing standards.
  • Step 7: Each model – the couple and the fox – was exported as a watertight, full-color 3D file ready for production.
  • Step 8: The figures were printed separately in one piece each using FacFox’s WJP full-color binder jetting process, which deposited colored binding agents layer by layer to reproduce full-spectrum detail.
  • Step 9: After printing, excess powder was carefully removed, and both miniatures were infiltrated with clear resin to enhance color vibrancy and structural strength.
  • Step 10: Minor surface touch-ups and matte finishing were applied to refine the texture and achieve a lifelike, collectible quality.
  • Step 11: The miniatures underwent precision inspection – confirming dimensional accuracy, color fidelity, and text legibility on the marriage certificate.
  • Step 12: The completed figures were photographed and packaged securely as a personalized wedding keepsake for our colleague.
