About Project

The architecture, named Yaoshan Temple, is a Buddhist temple built in the early Tang dynasty. Its double roofs are popular since the Han dynasty. The 1/200 hollowed model restores the main details of the temple. This kind of model is often ordered by ancient architecture lovers, museums, and design institutes, etc.

Solution

  • Step 1: As only the roofs can be lifted and the rest parts are fixed, we decided to print the main part together with the arches in one piece and print the roofs separately.
  • Step 2: Add supports and arrange the placements. The handrails are thick enough and the overhangs are short, which don’t require supporting structures.
  • Step 3: 3D print the parts using our industrial SLA 3D printers. SLA Generic Resin is the most cost-efficient one for making large display models.
  • Step 4: Cut off the supports and wash the prints with IPA. Spray the prints with a prime after air drying. Paint the parts with specified colors.
