Making the city landmark into attracting food is a new trend in China. Young people love to buy “landmark food” and post photos on the Internet.
Yellow Crane Tower is a traditional Chinese tower located in Wuhan. The client was committed to designing and producing the ice-cream in the shape of the tower. We helped with 3D printing the model and making silicone molds with urethane casting technology.
Solution
Step 1: Considering the molds are produced for ice-creams, we recommend that the details could be 0.5-1mm, which also saves the costs.
Step 2: We first printed the 3D model of the ice-cream with SLA Generic Resin. As there are many details but low requirements on precision, we wash the model with IPA to remove the supports.
Step 3: After the ice-cream prototype passes verification, the designer simply designs the mold by creating a cuboid and deducting the model from it.
Step 4: Pour the food-safe silicone material into the tool and then comes the ice-cream mold.
