About Project

This project features a custom SLA 3D printed and hand-painted game character statue inspired by Tron Bonne and the stacked Servbots, also known as Kobun, from The Misadventures of Tron Bonne. It is such a charming setup: Tron Bonne posing with that confident expression, the Servbots stacked in front of her, and the whole scene sitting on a glossy black display base!

SLA resin 3D printing was used to create the white model before painting. This made sense because the design needed clean character shapes, smooth curved surfaces, expressive faces, tiny hands, robot bodies, and all those bright anime-style color areas. Full-color 3D printing can also produce different colors in different regions, of course, but some customers prefer the look of a white resin kit finished by hand. It can feel closer to a painted vinyl toy or garage kit, with solid color blocks, visible paint layers, and a more toy-like surface.

The statue is also more playful than a simple one-piece figure. The two stacked Servbots can be removed from the main figure! To make this possible, the base and the area under Tron Bonne’s hand include positioning structures that help hold the robots in place when assembled. This detachable setup is great for transport, painting, repair, and display adjustment, but it also requires careful tolerance control so the parts do not feel too loose or too tight.

From the photos, the whole scene reads immediately: Tron Bonne stands behind the Servbots, one hand pressing down from above, while the two little robots create a funny vertical stack in front of her. The colors carry a lot of the fan appeal here: pink outfit, black hair, green eyes, yellow robot heads, dark blue bodies, turquoise accents, and those dramatic little Servbot faces! At close range, some hand-painted edges and small details remain imperfect, especially around tight color boundaries. But for a custom painted figure at this budget level, the statue still delivers the most important thing: personality, recognizability, and a lot of nostalgic fun!

This workflow is suitable for custom game character statues, garage kits, fan-made display models, collectible prototypes, and small-batch hand-painted resin figures. Solution

  • Step 1: The statue files were reviewed before production, including the female character body, Servbot components, round base, contact points, removable assembly structure, and small facial and hand details.
  • Step 2: The model was split and prepared for SLA resin 3D printing, with attention to fragile limbs, hair shape, robot heads, and the positioning features used to hold the stacked Servbots.
  • Step 3: The parts were printed in white resin using SLA 3D printing to create smooth character surfaces and clean sculptural forms for later painting.
  • Step 4: After printing, the parts were cleaned, supports were removed, and the visible surfaces were prepared for manual painting and assembly.
  • Step 5: The statue was hand painted according to the character color scheme, including skin tone, black hair, pink outfit, boots, gloves, yellow robot heads, dark blue bodies, turquoise accents, and facial expressions.
  • Step 6: The removable Servbots were test-fitted between the base and the structure under the character’s hand to check positioning, stability, and display balance.
  • Step 7: The finished statue was inspected for overall character readability, color coverage, assembly fit, visible paint overflow, edge definition, and display effect on the black base.
