This project features a large, expressive character bust brought to life with FacFox’s SLA Generic Resin. The original digital sculpt contains complex anatomy-deep facial creases, vein-like textures, stretched musculature, and an intense asymmetric grin. To reproduce these subtleties faithfully at a tall display scale, the model required a material capable of both high precision and a naturally smooth finish.

Solution

• Step 1: Model preparationThe client’s digital bust model was inspected and was checked for mesh errors, wall thickness, and overhangs suitable for SLA printing.
• Step 2: Orientation & hollowingThe model was oriented in the build space to balance detail quality and support efficiency, then was hollowed and given internal drainage holes to reduce material usage and stress.
• Step 3: Support generationAutomatic supports were generated and were manually refined around the ears, jawline, lips, and teeth to ensure stability while minimizing post-processing marks.
• Step 4: SlicingThe prepared model was sliced into layers at the chosen resolution, and print parameters for SLA Generic Resin were applied.
• Step 5: PrintingThe bust was printed on an industrial SLA machine using SLA Generic Resin, and each layer was cured by laser exposure until the full geometry was formed.
• Step 6: Part removalAfter printing, the build platform was raised and the cured bust was carefully detached from the platform to avoid damaging delicate features.
• Step 7: Resin rinsingExcess uncured resin was removed as the part was rinsed in an alcohol bath and any remaining resin was brushed out from fine details such as the teeth and ear cavities.
• Step 8: Support removalAll support structures were clipped and were carefully peeled away, especially around the lips, nose, and neck to preserve the original sculpted texture.
• Step 9: UV post-curingThe cleaned bust was placed in a UV curing chamber and was fully post-cured to reach final mechanical strength and dimensional stability.
• Step 10: Surface refinementSupport contact points and minor imperfections were sanded and were blended into the surrounding area while the natural skin texture of the sculpt was preserved.
• Step 11: Final inspectionThe completed bust was inspected for accuracy, surface quality, and structural integrity, and any small defects were corrected before packing.
• Step 12: Packaging & shipmentThe statue was wrapped in protective foam, was secured in a custom-sized box, and was prepared for shipment to the client.
