About Project

This elegant flowerpot was designed by an architect using Rhino 3D, taking inspiration from the timeless floral motifs of Van Cleef & Arpels. Its gently twisting form resembles overlapping petals, creating a sculptural piece that elevates even the simplest of plants into a statement of art and design.

The pot features smooth, flowing curves and a delicately perforated base for drainage, making it as functional as it is beautiful. When 3D printed, the design captures the sophistication of jewelry-inspired aesthetics and brings it into the world of interior décor.

Though not designed or printed by us, this case perfectly illustrates how architects and designers can leverage 3D printing to bring luxury-inspired concepts into everyday life. From jewelry motifs to architectural elements, 3D printing enables the transformation of artistic visions into tangible, functional objects.

At FacFox, we support designers, architects, and creatives with professional 3D printing services in a wide variety of materials and finishes. Whether you are working on home décor, fashion, or conceptual art, we can help you bring your ideas to life with precision and elegance.

Solution

  • Step 1: 3D Modeling. The flowerpot was digitally modeled in Rhino 3D by the architect. The form was designed with petal-like curves inspired by Van Cleef & Arpels’ iconic floral aesthetics. Drainage holes were integrated into the bottom to ensure practicality for planting.
  • Step 2: File Preparation. The 3D model was exported into a printable format (STL/OBJ). The file was then sliced with optimized parameters, including appropriate wall thickness and infill settings to balance strength and material use.
  • Step 3: 3D Printing. The flowerpot was fabricated using an FDM 3D printer with white PLA filament. Layer-by-layer deposition was carried out, capturing the delicate curves and ensuring a smooth transition between the folds of the design.
  • Step 4: Support Removal. Once printing was completed, the part was carefully detached from the build plate. Any supports used during the process were removed to reveal the final organic form.
  • Step 5: Post-Processing. The surface was lightly sanded and cleaned to enhance smoothness and remove visible layer lines. The pot was then rinsed to eliminate printing dust and prepared for planting use.
  • Step 6: Application. Plants were potted inside the finished vessel, transforming the flowerpot into both a functional planter and a luxury-inspired design piece that blends jewelry aesthetics with modern home décor.
