Just finished printing this awesome R-301 Carbine prop replica from Apex Legends, and I'm stoked with how it turned out! This iconic weapon is a must-have for any Apex Legends fan, and bringing it to life with 3D printing was an incredibly rewarding project.

The level of detail in the model is fantastic, and it printed beautifully on my FDM printer. It took some time and filament, but the end result is absolutely worth it. I can't wait to use it for my next cosplay!

Solution

• Step 1: Model Acquisition. The 3D model was downloaded from MakerWorld: https://makerworld.com/en/models/952546#profileId-920835.
• Step 2: File Preparation. The downloaded file was then prepared for 3D printing, including any necessary scaling, orientation adjustments, and support structure generation.
• Step 3: Printing Process. The part was printed using an FDM 3D printer. Layer by layer, the filament was extruded and deposited onto the print bed, following the digital model’s instructions.
• Step 4: Support Removal. Once the printing process was complete, the support structures, which were added to help with overhanging parts, were carefully removed.
• Step 5: Post-Processing. Depending on the desired finish, the parts were sanded to remove any imperfections.
• Step 6: Assembly. The model was designed in multiple parts so they were assembled using super glue.
