Stratasys‘ GrabCAD Print software is now able to import 3D printable 3MF files. This could be quite significant news for designers, especially those who currently work with STL files and are utilizing a Stratasys full-color PolyJet printer. Unlike STL files (which do not contain color or material information), 3MF, an XML-based data format, provides a complete package of model information in a single archive.
AM quality assurance software developer Sigma Labs has been granted two U.S. patents for its PrintRite3D software platform. The recently obtained patents expand the company’s intellectual property portfolio, making for a total of 11 issued patents and 24 pending patents.
As more and more engineers are learning to harness the power of additive manufacturing for part optimization, the next challenge to address is how to design parts that are ready to be optimized. As AM continues to unleash new opportunities for new products, multicolor material jetting 3D printing global leader Stratasys is launching a new system set to take these opportunities to the next level: you can participate live in this exclusive Stratasys launch event by registering here to attend online on April 29th at 11 am CDT/6 pm CEST (repeating on April 30th at 9 am CEST).

Ceramics 3D printer firm Lithoz today released its new CeraVision tool and set of features to real-time monitor and control 3D printing process from remote via live-video transmission, giving users an all-new way to interact with their printers. Available for the CeraFab printers’ family, this new tool is also designed to detect and automatically correct errors during printing and to increase the usability of the printers.
VELO3D, a metal PBF 3D printing startup that is rapidly establishing itself as one of the fastest-growing companies in the segment, is introducing a next-gen version Sapphire 3D printer, with as much as one meter on Z-axis build capabilities. CNC experts Knust-Godwin have signed on as the first customer for what can be considered one of the world’s tallest laser-powder additive manufacturing systems
In this time of crisis, every person has a role to play, whether it is staying put at home, providing an essential service or working on the front lines. In the additive manufacturing industry, many companies and individuals have stepped up to leverage 3D printing capabilities to help support those working on the front lines, to protect them from exposure to the virus. It has been heartening to see and is truly making a difference.
