Anyone familiar with injection molding knows that the cooling system design is critical to cycle times, which takes up 70% to 80% of the injection molding cycle. Traditional methods for cooling molds involve secondary machining operations to drill cooling channels that follow straight lines and don’t consistently keep temperatures uniform. A well-designed cooling system can shorten the molding time and improve productivity tremendously. Enter conformal cooling.

Whenever someone asks about the state of low cost ceramics 3D printing the one company that comes inevitably to mind is Tethon3D, which has spent the past several years experimenting with its own 3D printable ceramics material, developed for legacy Zcorp binder jetting 3D printers (and usable on current 3D System’s Projet x60 series as well).
Launched back in 2012, the Cambridge-Massachusetts based startup Onshape has become known across the 3D design industry for being the first to fully immerse CAD software into a cloud system. The company was founded by members of the original SolidWorks team, along with other expert engineers. What makes Onshape unique is its teamwork-driven environment, enabling designers across the world to work in unison using a web browser, phone, or tablet. After commercially releasing Onshape in December 2015, and quickly becoming a game-changer in the CAD industry, the Onshape team has now announced FeatureScript, which will offer their customers the ability to change the way their personal Onshape CAD system operates.
