Mutiny Shaving introduces R1, the first fully 3D printed steel razor Consumer Products

Mutiny Shaving, a Welsh startup that specializes on reusable razors, introduced the first, completely 3D printed, stainless steel reusable razor. The stainless steel R1 is the only fully manufactured razor in the UK, created with 100% transparency & 0% waste pollution. It was additively created from sustainable materials, carbon neutral, with no manufacturing pollution. Mutiny is pushing heavily to break barriers, push the envelope and create the coolest razors and become the most eco-friendly shaving company on the planet.

Another element that makes this product stand out is that it was 3D printed using a bound metal filament extrusion technology. These technologies are enabling a dramatic reduction in the cost of 3D printing metal parts with less complex geometries, such as those required by many consumer products, and this is the first commercially available consumer product made with this additive process.

This is not by far the first venture by Mutiny Shaving in the field of 3D printing for reusable razor manufacturing. Its Ocean Waste hybrid razor, created from reclaimed, recycled Cornish fishing nets, has a unique handle and blade shield that are 3D printed using materials made from recycled fishing nets which are rescued or donated by the Cornish fleets, recycled in Cornwall and printed in Cornwall. It is part of Mutiny’s mission to create beautiful, reusable shaving products from reclaimed, recycled, sustainable materials.

Another model, the Mutiny Hybrid razor, is a part of a collaboration with Newport County Football Club. The 3D printed, eco razor celebrates the pride of Newport with a logo embossed blade shield and handle. It is 3D printed from recycled PLA which is created from totally sustainable cornstarch. Generating no manufacturing waste or transport pollution, it was designed, created, printed and packed locally in Newport, South Wales.

The large, thick, squared-off handle is specifically designed to stand upright for ease of drying and the handle and it also has a nonslip surface for ease of use in both the shower and bath. The blade shield ensures that the razor and fingers are kept safe. The razor comes with 5 blades that are 100% recyclable. Priced at just £25,99, the Mutiny Hybrid is designed for a lifetime of use and comes with a lifetime Mutiny ‘fix it’ guarantee, with 100%, zero waste.

Other 3D printed models include the Rainbow Edition Hybrid, with a unique 3D printed handle created from recycled cornstarch, which is sustainable, recyclable, biodegradable and can be industrial composted, making it completely zero waste. The large, thick, squared-off handle, in vibrant rainbow colors, is specifically designed to stand upright.
