Fusion 360’s New Slicer Intergrated CAD, CAM, and CAE Software

Fusion 360 has received a significant update for those that design their own versions to 3D print — a slicer.

To 3D print one of your layouts, you needed to export it, slice it, then export the G-code for a 3D printer.

You can now design a model in Fusion 360, then slice your designs from the program — a thing that’s especially handy if you operate with a machine which does both subtractive and additive production. The Fusion 360 slicer includes a few neat features. As an instance, it will scatter your components, and can simulate the printing process.

Fusion 360 integrated CAD, CAM, and CAE software. It can eliminate your disconnected product development process, and unify design, engineering, electronics, and manufacturing into a single platform.

Generally, however, the attributes are what you would expect from a slicer. You change your setup to additive, pick the machine you’re using, and then configure everything for printing, much like in Cura.

“Don’t let your design tool limit your creativity and ability to quickly create multiple design iterations. Design how you want in all phases of the product development process.”
