Stratasys FY2016 losses reduced significantly, slow business improvement AM Industry

Stratasys, the current 3D printing industry market leader in terms of global sales, reported revenues $672.5 million in Stratasys FY2016 results compared to $696.0 million for fiscal 2015. This relatively contained decrement came with a huge reduction in GAAP net losses: $77.2 million, or ($1.48) per diluted share, compared to $1.4 billion, or ($26.64) per diluted share, for fiscal 2015.

Stratasys, the 3D printing and additive manufacturing solutions market leader, today announced enrollment is now open for 3DHEART, an investigator initiated trial. 3DHEART, which stands for 3D Hearts Enabling A Randomized Trial, is a randomized, single-blind clinical trial to study the use of patient-specific 3D printed models in pre-operative planning for pediatric heart surgery. Stratasys is providing in-kind support with printing of the models to be used in the trial.

Real Kickstarters: Alienology’s T3TRA Speaker is 3D Printed for On-Demand Design (ODD) Research & Education

Even top designer Patrick Starck said it: 3D printing could resurrect design by making it on-demand. However there haven’t been many high quality design product made on-demand with 3D printing yet. The trend has been slowly picking up – with some notable recent examples such as OTHR – and the T3TRA speaker that design studio Alienology just launched on Kickstarter might offer yet another indication.

World’s first operational 3D printed excavator is live at the IFPE Show in Las Vegas (Video) 3D Printing Events

For the past two years a conglomerate of trade associations, industry, government and academia have been collaborating on the world’s first operational 3D printed excavator. That project made a giant leap forward with the recent printing of a prototype that leveraged large-scale additive manufacturing technologies and further explores the feasibility of printing with metal alloys. The fully operational 3D printed excavator is on display at the IFPE show in Las Vega Nevada until March 11th.
