3D printed bike saddles, a newcomer to consumer AM 3D Printing Processes

One of the big developments of the past year in the consumer 3D printing market has been the introduction of professional-level bike saddles, manufactured using Carbon’s Digital Light Synthesis (DLS) technology. Within the span of a couple of weeks at the end of last summer, Carbon revealed two partnerships with established bike companies: Specialized and fizik. ANCA and CSIRO developing hybrid AM system for tungsten cutting tools Additive Manufacturing

ANCA, an Australian manufacturer of machine tools, is teaming up with national science agency CSIRO, Sutton Tools and the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC) to develop and bring to market a new hybrid manufacturing platform that combines additive and subtractive capabilities. The new and potentially disruptive system will be designed to manufacture custom cutting tools made from tungsten.

Simufact and Renishaw to improve simulation for multi-laser metal AM AM Industry

Engineering firm Renishaw has announced a partnership with simulation expert Simufact with the aim of improving powder-based metal additive manufacturing through simulation and build preparation. Through the collaboration, the companies will integrate Renishaw’s QuantAM build preparation software into Simufact Additive 2020. They will also work to further refine the simulation process for the complex metallurgy of common materials with the goal of improving prediction and compensation of stress and distortion during the print job.
