3D printer manufacturer SLM Solutions Group AG, based in Lübeck, Germany, has announced a deal with Italy’s BeamIT.
BeamIT are a leading contract manufacturer and work with the automotive, biomedical, aeronautic and aerospace industry in Italy.
Investigating use of metal powders for additive manufacturing
The new deal will see 15 SLM Solutions multi-laser machines supplied to BeamIT under a contract that runs until December 31, 2019. A further 10 SLM 280 2.0 machines and 5 SLM 500 machines equipped with a quad laser system will also be supplied. This brings the total number of 3D printers to be sold to BeamIT to 25 under the contract.
The deal is part of a long-term cooperation agreement between the two companies. Under the agreement BeamIT and SLM Solutions will work together on the joint development and also on testing of machine settings. Specifically the parameters for working with a range of metal powders for 3D printing will be investigated.
Advantages of multi-laser technology are compelling
Uwe Bögershausen, CFO of SLM Solutions Group AG says, “We have been working very closely with BeamIT for some years now. Italy is a market with huge potential and we are greatly looking forward to stepping up this cooperation.”
Speaking about today’s news Mauro Antolotti, founder and President of BeamIT S.p.a. said,
We have been using the machines of the SLM Solutions Group for some time now and find the quality and the advantages of the multi-laser technology compelling, especially regarding productivity, build-part-costs and the high quality of parts. SLM Solutions systems play a very important role for us in further optimizing our productivity and the build-part-costs.
The cooperation agreement is an important step forward for SLM Solutions and the additive manufacturing enterprise believes the deal will assist in, “leveraging the opportunities that arise from the growing use of additive manufacturing technology in the automotive as well as biomedical, aeronautic and aerospace sectors.”
