About Project

The Autozam AZ-1, known by the frame code PG6SA, is a mid-engined Kei-class sports car, designed and manufactured by Mazda under its Autozam brand. Suzuki provided the engine. Manufactured from October 1992 to 1994, the AZ-1 was noted for its gullwing doors.

Our customer, who is a model car lover, ordered to make a garage kit of Mazda Autozam AZ-1. The car model was printed in one piece, polished and sprayed with matte white paint. He was very satisfied with the smooth matte surface and couldn't wait to paint it himself.

In the old days, car models were generally cut out from wooden blocks by a band saw or scroll saw and glued together. Now you can easily buy 3D models or scan the cars and 3D print them at one time.

Solution

  • Step 1: Print the car model with the SLA 3D printer using Generic Resin SD.
  • Step 2: Remove the supporting structure and post-cure the model.
  • Step 3: Sanding, polishing, and spraying with matte paint.
