About Project
This delicate window panel is 3D printed using silk PLA filament, with no post-processing-just straight off the printer with a lustrous, silver-like sheen.
Inspired by traditional Chinese floral window lattices, the design features flowing vine patterns and grape clusters, symbolizing abundance and prosperity. The frame is finely detailed yet lightweight and sturdy.
It's incredibly versatile:
- Use it as a miniature architectural prop for dollhouses or dioramas.
- Frame it as wall décor or hang it as a sun catcher.
- Combine several panels to create a modular screen or window insert.
A single piece weighs just 5 grams-light enough to hang anywhere!

Solution
- Step 1: A traditional Chinese grapevine window pattern was digitally modeled using CAD software, ensuring precise ornamental detail and structural integrity.
- Step 2: The 3D model was sliced in preparation for printing, with optimized layer height and infill settings to balance resolution and weight.
- Step 3: The design was printed using silk PLA filament on an FDM 3D printer. A 0.4mm nozzle and fine layer resolution were used to capture intricate curves and textures.
- Step 4: The finished piece was carefully removed from the build plate once cooled, without requiring any supports or post-processing.
- Step 5: The final product was inspected for consistency, smoothness, and edge clarity, highlighting the natural gloss of the silk PLA material.
