About Project

The Panton Chair is an S-shaped plastic chair created by the Danish designer Verner Panton in the 1960s, and it’s the world’s first molded plastic chair. Our customer likes it so much and thinks of 3D printing to reproduce the classic. To ensure it’s strong enough for daily use, we adopted the material PLA and printed it through FDM technology.

Solution

  • Step 1: Our customer offers some photos of Panton chair.
  • Step 2: 3D modeling based on the photos.
  • Step 3: Considering the size of the FDM printer, we split the model into many blocks.
  • Step 4: FDM printing the blocks separately.
  • Step 5: Assemble all the blocks, polish and paint the chair.
