About Project

Stone lovers always have trouble placing and exhibiting the stones they collected. The stones are round and irregular, thus cannot stand stably on the table. With 3D scanning and 3D modeling technology, we can custom a unique base for each stone. Besides, there are also decorations on the bases like characters, bamboos, pavilions, pine trees, mountains, ocean waves, fishes, etc. The stones can be moved freely from the custom bases which perfectly fix with their bottom.

Solution

  • Step 1: 3D scan the stones and design the grooves which can fix the shape of the stone bottoms. Add decoration elements with reference to our client’s request, the stones’ patterns, and Chinese traditional landscape paintings.
  • Step 2: Add the supporting structure and arrange the placement in the slicing software. Import the STL files into our industrial SLA 3D printers. As the stone bases just used for presentation, we recommend using SLA Generic Resin.
  • Step 3: After regular post-processing, we brush the bases with brown paint to mimic the color of mud. It’s also one of the traditional Chinese colors.
  • Step 4: Place the stones onto the bases for testing. All of the stones stand stably.
