About Project

Formlabs Castable Wax Resin is often used to produce highly detailed jewelry by casting parts through direct investment casting with minimal part finishing. As a 20% wax-filled material, it prints both delicate and bulky models with ease. Parts printed in Castable Wax are ready to cast after washing without post-curing for fast, clean burnout and a streamlined casting process.

Solution

  • Step 1: The printing process of Formlabs castable wax is the same as printing other photosensitive resin. Firstly we arrange the placement of the badge in the software and add supporting structures. Export the STL files into the SLA 3D printer.
  • Step 2: 3D print the teeth model with SLA Formlabs Castable Wax. The material offers optional layer heights of 0.05 and 0.025 mm, and the tolerance is 卤0.1%. It’s suitable for fine-detail models with smooth surfaces and complex designs with intricate details.
  • Step 3: Rinse the model with IPA, and post-cure it with UV. Then break off the supports, sand and polish the model to remove bumps.
