Some food props only need to look recognizable. This realistic large egg tart model goes a step further—it looks almost warm from the oven. It was likely created for a cake shop or bakery that wanted an eye-catching display piece for window decoration, product promotion, photo shooting, or in-store branding. Compared with real pastries, a printed display model can stay fresh-looking every day without melting, drying out, or being replaced.

The most charming part of this model is the contrast between the two surfaces. The wavy crust was kept relatively matte, so the golden-brown folds, darker baked edges, and layered pastry texture feel closer to real puff pastry. The custard center, however, was selectively coated with clear acrylic oil, giving it a glossy, caramelized, freshly baked look. Solution

  • Step 1: The egg tart model was checked before production, including the fluted pastry edge, custard surface, toasted color pattern, bottom shape, and overall display scale.
  • Step 2: The color data was prepared for WJP full-color 3D printing, so the golden crust, darker baked areas, yellow custard, and reddish caramelized spots could be reproduced directly on the model.
  • Step 3: The model was printed with full-color photopolymer resin, where colored resin materials were jetted and UV-cured layer by layer to form both the geometry and the surface colors.
