Standard manufacturing for automotive miniatures often requires expensive steel molds for injection molding, which is cost-prohibitive for small batches or custom designs. To achieve the “Legend” series quality, we needed a method that could capture:

  • Mechanical Complexity: The intricate three-point rear hitch and hydraulic line connectors.

  • Surface Aesthetics: A glass-smooth finish on the hood and cab that reflects light like a real vehicle.

  • Material Diversity: The need for crystal-clear cab glass, rubber-like tire textures, and high-strength structural chassis.

The Solution: Multi-Material Resin Integration

By utilizing advanced SLA/DLP resin printing, every component was printed with specialized photopolymers.

  • Body & Chassis: Printed in high-toughness resin for durability, then finished with a premium automotive-grade matte blue paint.

  • Cab & Lighting: High-transparency clear resin, polished to optical clarity, allows for a full view of the internal dashboard and seating.

  • Consistency at Scale: As seen in the production crates, 3D printing allowed for the simultaneous “mass-customization” of these units, ensuring every single tractor met the exact same tolerances.

Solution

  • Step 1: The digital architecture of the tractor and its attachments was meticulously designed using CAD software to ensure perfect fitment of interlocking parts.
