The Siemens gas turbine business in Finspång, a pioneer in the development of additive manufacturing, has entered into a collaboration with Swedish company Interspectral. The two companies will work together to develop AM Explorer, a 3D visualization tool that will accelerate the industrialization of metal additive manufacturing.
AM software company Dyndrite Corporation this week emerged from stealth mode with the release of its Dyndrite Accelerated Geometry Kernel (AGK) and the software’s first application, the Dyndrite Additive Toolkit. The software, marketed as the world’s first fully GPU-native geometry engine, has been in development for three and a half years.
GKN Powder Metallurgy is extending its partnership with PostNord AB, a provider of communications and logistics solutions in the Nordic region, to accelerate the accessibility of additive manufacturing with the goal of fully revolutionizing supply chains. Automation will be a key focus of the collaboration going forward.
Onshape, the leading cloud product development platform, introduced four new releases during the first quarter of 2019. The automatic product updates, which are delivered to customers every three weeks, include new Release Management functionality, collaboration tool enhancements, CAD features, improvements to user interface and performance, bug fixes, and updates to Onshape Drawings and FeatureScript (the open-source programming language to create custom features).
3D printing company Stratasys has kicked off the week with a slew of announcements, including the launch of its first SLA 3D printer, the V650 Flex, and the Pantone validation of its colour 3D printing platforms. In addition to the two announcements, the 3D printing giant has also released its latest industrial desktop 3D printer, the F120.
Formlabs has added two new Low Force Stereolithography (LFS) 3D printers to its portfolio. The new machines, the Form 3 and Form 3L, are based on the company’s innovative LFS technology which delivers consistent and accurate parts.
The NextGenerationSpaceframe 2.0 project by Siemens and EDAG was presented today at Hannover Messe and is set to significantly streamline the integration of modular AM elements in automotive production via digital twin. Last year at Hannover Messe (where Siemens plays at home), the German giant had presented a number of key application cases for automotive manufacturing and beyond, including a very fascinating one with Bugatti.
For years, 3D printing company Stratasys has been a dominant figure in the FDM 3D printing sector. More recently, it has broken into other AM technology areas, pioneering its own PolyJet printing process and even developing a new metal AM technique. Today, the company makes its first moves into the stereolithography (SLA) segment with the launch of its new V650 Flex SLA 3D printer.
3D Systems today revealed that three major manufacturing companies have adopted its additive manufacturing systems into their production workflows to improve productivity and cost. The new adopters are: telecommunications company Nokia, medical device manufacturer rms Company and GF Precicast, a technology supplier for the aerospace and industrial gas turbine (IGT) markets.
