TIWARI and ESA validate ceramic and metal materials for RAPTOR 3D printer 3D Printing Processes

ESA-supported startup TIWARI Scientific Instruments in Germany has developed low-cost 3D printer, the RAPTOR, which is capable of 3D printing a variety of metals and ceramics using a bound powder filament extrusion process. While the 3D printer is similar to other systems now available in the market – such as those introduced by Nanoe and Triditive among others – TIWARI was able to leverage support from ESA to validate four metal and ceramic materials for space and other applications.

Senvol machine learning to be used for missile application with the U.S. Army AM Software

Senvol was awarded a United States Army Research Laboratory (ARL) contract to apply its machine learning software, Senvol ML, to rapidly design additive manufactured parts. The software allows the Army to qualify parts across AM processes and platforms, thus reducing the Army’s supply chain lead time. By leveraging ML algorithms, the qualification plan will also be notably more efficient than more traditional qualification plans (i.e. require fewer builds and less time).

MakerBot Launches METHOD X to Bring Real ABS 3D Printing to Manufacturing

MakerBot is launching METHOD X, a new manufacturing workstation engineered to challenge traditional manufacturing with real ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) material for durable parts, a 100°C chamber, and Stratasys SR-30 soluble supports. METHOD X can withstand up to 15°C higher temperatures, is up to 26% more rigid, and up to 12% stronger than modified ABS formulations used on desktop 3D printer competitors. MakerBot assures that Precision ABS parts printed on METHOD X have no warping or cracking that typically occurs when printing modified ABS on desktop platforms without heated chambers.

3YOURMIND, a provider of enterprise software for automating additive manufacturing workflows, has secured a $5.5 million investment through a Series A+ funding round led by EnBW New Ventures (ENV), the venture arm of EnBW AG, one of the largest utilities companies in Germany. The financing round also saw additional contributions from existing investors UVC Partners, TRUMPF Venture, coparion and AM Ventures.
