Oerlikon, Linde and TUM embark on €1.7M project to develop aluminum alloy for AM AM Industry

A team of influential players in the AM industry are coming together to develop a new high-strength and lightweight aluminum alloy for the aerospace and automotive industries. Materials expert Oerlikon will be working alongside industrial gases company Linde and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) to pioneer the new 3D printing metal, supported by €1.7 million in funding (50% of which is from the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs).

Amastan rebrands as 6K, launches sustainably sourced metal AM powders Materials

Amastan Technologies will be rebranding as a new company, 6K, which will make its debut at Formnext 2019. As part of its launch, the new company, which develops microwave plasma technology for the production of materials for AM, lithium ion batteries and more, has introduced metal additive manufacturing powders made from sustainable sources. The powders are produced using 6K’s unique UniMelt technology which is capable of transforming certified chemistry machined millings, turnings and other recycled feedstock sources into premium powder for AM.
