Borneo gets first 3D printed house Construction 3D Printing

Borneo, known for its orangutans and other wildlife, is one of the most biodiverse places on earth, with more than an estimated 15,000 plant species found in its rainforests. Unexpectedly, this large Asian island now has its first 3D printed house – a testament to the technology’s potential and reach. In Sarawak, the Northern coastal part of Borneo, which is more urbanized than the rainforest-covered center, the large concrete pre-casting company Sarawak Consolidated Industries Berhad (SCIB) recently revealed the company’s first 3D printed demo house.

3D printed Smart Bridge unveiled at Autodesk University 2022 Industrial Additive Manufacturing

According to Arabian Business, the first prototype of a real-scale, five-meter long, 3D printed pedestrian Smart Bridge was unveiled at the Autodesk University (AU) 2022 conference, which took place on September 27-29 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The bridge was designed in the UAE, in partnership with American software company, Autodesk, and Lebanese engineering company, Dar Al-Handasah.

Europe’s first 3D printed office extension completed in Austria Construction 3D Printing

Europe’s first 3D printed office extension has opened in Hausleiten, Austria. The project, first announced in October last year, is a result of a collaboration between the construction technology group STRABAG and the scaffolding and formwork manufacturer and 3D concrete printing pioneer, PERI. The building, printed with a BOD2, COBOD’s best-selling 3D construction printer, is a 125m² office extension to an existing building in Hausleiten.

How ‘To Grow a Building’ using seeds and soil Sustainability

According to a project submitted to designboom, a group of designers – Or Naim, Elisheva Gillis, Gitit Linker, Danny Freedman, Noa Zermati, Adi Segal, Rebeca Partook, and Nof Nathansohn – have created ‘To Grow a Building’, an outdoor performative lab that imagined the possibility of a world in which buildings are 3D printed from organic materials. The designers presented the project at Jerusalem Design Week 2022.

State of Montana gives broad regulatory approval for 3DCP Construction 3D Printing

Building code regulators at the US state level in Montana have made history as the first to approve 3D printed walls as an equal replacement for walls made with concrete masonry units (CMUs), or a standard cored concrete block. The approval was granted to Tim Stark, a contractor based in Billings, Montana, after filing documents, specifications, and testing reports developed by Apis Cor, the Florida-based construction technology company that holds the Guinness World Record for the largest (volume) 3D printed building globally.
