According to Athens Independent, the Survivor Advocacy Outreach Program (SAOP) has partnered with construction firm Vitruvian to build 3D printed homes in Chauncey, Ohio, aiming to expand affordable housing options in the Appalachian region.
Contec, a construction company based in Western Australia, recently acquired a concrete 3D printer from CyBe Construction, a Dutch developer of 3D printing technology. Contec has already printed all the walls of its first two-story house, located in Tapping, and aims to rapidly scale up operations.
The world’s first on-site 3D printed large water tanks have been constructed in Kuwait, by Abyan, using a COBOD 3D construction printer – achieving a 25% savings on the amount of concrete and reinforcement used compared to casted tanks. Benefitting from the speed and design freedom of 3D construction printing, the tanks can be made faster, and more economically and sustainable than when using traditional formwork. The tanks – 4.5m in height and with a diameter of 7m – were 3D printed with low-cost concrete in just 5 days and only contained macro fibers for the reinforcement of the tank walls and no traditional reinforcement meshes.
Australian 3D construction printing technology company, Luyten 3D, has entered a partnership with the University of New South Wales to design and build one of the world’s most advanced 3D printed owner-occupier homes in Australia. The property will be built in Melbourne over the next few months and it will be used to showcase the benefits of building homes and other structures using 3D printing technology.
Power2build has finished its largest 3D printed building with a COBOD BOD2 construction printer, using the D.fab concrete solution from COBOD International and CEMEX, in Angola. The company intends to transform the housing market and is a pioneer aiming to solve the challenge of affordable housing in Angola, with 3D printed buildings.
CyBe Construction has opened its new production facility in Oss, Netherlands, for its suppliers and back-end partners. Due to the company’s rapid growth over the past year, and the increasing demand for solutions to the global housing shortage problem, CyBe has had to scale up its production process and has moved into larger premises. At these new premises, CyBe can scale up the current production process and work on new developments.
