MakerBot, a company that forms part of the Stratasys portfolio, has released CloudPrint 2.0 – a major upgrade to its print preparation and management solution, MakerBot CloudPrint. MakerBot CloudPrint now includes an enhanced interface for a smoother user experience, and several new and upgraded features that enable users to go from CAD file to 3D printed part faster than before.
Impulse Space, a leading company in the development of in-space transportation services for the inner solar system, has entered into a groundbreaking partnership and launch mission with Relativity Space, the first company to 3D print entire rockets and builder of the largest metal 3D printers in the world – to deliver the first commercial payload to Mars. With an anticipated launch window starting in 2024, this historic partnership rapidly advances the companies’ shared goal of a multi-planetary existence for humanity. Under the exclusive agreement, Relativity is scheduled to launch Impulse’s Mars Cruise Vehicle and Mars Lander in Terran R from Cape Canaveral, Florida in an exclusive arrangement lasting through to 2029.
The latest large format additive manufactring project from Caracol AM, a highly dynamic company in the robotic LFAM segment, is a giant “Y” shaped sculpture placed in front of Yamamay’s HQ in Gallarate, near Milan, in Italy. Yamamay the Italian leader in the production and distribution of underwear, lingerie, sleepwear and beachwear products. The company is very much dedicate to innovative design and implementing more sustainable manufacturing practices: the 3-meter tall sculpture, 3D printed with 170 Kg of 100% recycled polypropylene, embodies both of these elements.
The Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn has joined forces with the Asturian company Triditive, a global benchmark company in additive manufacturing, to develop a 3D printer leveraging binder jetting technology. For several years, Triditive has been developing and commercializing bound metal extrusion systems tailored for parts production, under the brand AMCELL. Triditive and Foxconn will now work together on further scaling the AM platform’s automated manufacturing capabilities, marking a very important milestone and significant achievement for the Asturian startup led by CEO Mariel Diaz.
The Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT) has placed an order for a Multiphoton Optics MPO 100 printer. Multiphoton Optics was awarded the contract shortly before the official market launch of the new multi-user laser direct writer, which is based on Two-Photon Polymerization (TPP), and is produced by parent company Heidelberg Instruments Mikrotechnik GmbH. The MPO 100 will be used in the field of packaging and integrated optics at the Technology Campus (TC) Teisnach Sensor Technology of the DIT.
AM Ventures has closed its oversubscribed seed and early-growth fund at EUR 100 million – the ambitious hard cap set for the fund. Nano Dimension Ltd. (Nasdaq: NNDM) continues to shock the AM market with strategic acquisitions. After Nano Fabrica (now Fabrica Group) and more recently Adamtec/Formatec, the company has completed a strategic acquisition of 12.12% of additive manufacturing market leader Stratasys. Having visited Nano Dimension when it was just a two-story office with R&D capabilities in a building near Rehovot, Israel, only a few years ago, this achievement is all the more impressive.
Ørsted and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF Denmark) are testing how 3D printed reefs can benefit biodiversity in the Kattegat, a strait between Denmark and Sweden, which is experiencing a historically low cod stock. This is the first time 3D printed reefs are being used in Danish waters, and they will complement existing boulder reefs that Ørsted established when constructing the Anholt Offshore Wind Farm in 2012-13.
