To the benefit of millions of users of ZBrush software, designers, digital artists and 3D printing lovers, Sculpteo and ZBrush formed a new partnership allowing them to directly export their 3D models and print them from the online 3D printing service in just one click. This is a great example of how additive manufacturing can connect industries together and how Sculpteo is getting integrated into the key US market.
Building on a longstanding partnership, HP and Siemens are accelerating 3D printing for industrial production through the creation of a new HP-certified Additive Manufacturing (AM) software module from Siemens. The new software module, Siemens NX AM for HP Multi Jet Fusion, is now available from Siemens PLM Software as an extension to Siemens’ end-to-end design-to-production solution for additive manufacturing.
A new hybrid 3D printing technique developed at the Wyss Institute at Harvard University, Harvard’s John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and the Air Force Research Laboratory combines stretchable conductive inks and electronic components into flexible, durable wearable electronics and devices that move with the body and offer increased programmability. This research was supported by the Wyss Institute, Harvard SEAS, AFRL and GETTYLAB.

Dr. Mark Beard, until recently Technical Director of leading UK provider of metal Additive Manufacturing and 3D printing services 3T RPD, has joined the Additive Industries team. Mark Beard who holds a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Material Science from University of Exeter will head the growing Process & Application Development team.
In 2014, NASA made important progress toward the in-space manufacturing necessary for deep space exploration by “printing” tools in space using a 3-D printer on the International Space Station.
Prodways Technologies strengthens its European presence with the signing of distribution partnership agreements with Namitech in Italy and TOP Metrology in Romania and Bulgaria.
The recent ORNL 3D printed submarine showed that large scale composite 3D printing is ready to be implemented in the production of marine and submarine vehicles. The Royal Navy has started to look even further by unveiling a series of futuristic submarine concepts which mimic real marine life forms and radically change the way underwater warfare could look in 50 years, through the intensive adoption of 3D printing processes and materials.
Japanese company Mimaki is introducing a brand new approach to 3D printing with the Mimaki 3DUJ-553 UV LED printing solution. This is the world’s first 3D printer with over 10 million colors, enabling the production of colour-realistic signs, prototypes, parts, products and other 3D printed applications that eliminate the need for time-consuming hand painting of 3D printed objects.
