Open source 3D printer manufacturer Aleph Objects, Inc. has officially released its newest product, the LulzBot Aerostruder v2 Micro Tool Head. The new hardware update—which stirred up some confusion and excitement a couple of weeks ago with a red herring teaser—enables LulzBot Mini 2 users to up their printing game in terms of resolution.
UK-based medical 3D printing expert 3D LifePrints recently entered into a long-term agreement with the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. Under the newly signed collaboration, 3D LifePrints will continue to supply the hospital with specialized 3D printing services, including the printing of medical models.
Thought3D, the Malta-based manufacturer of Magigoo 3D printing adhesive products, has partnered with international online retailer HobbyKing.com, further expanding its reseller network. HobbyKing.com, a platform that primarily serves designers, makers and enthusiasts of electronics and R/C models, will now be selling the 50ml format of Magigoo 3D printer adhesive. Notably, the sales site will be stocking Magigoo at all of its warehouses in the U.S., the UK, Europe, Hong Kong and Australia.
GKN Powder Metallurgy revealed a strategic collaboration with HP Inc. at the 2018 International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS). The company will be the first to deploy the just-launched HP Metal Jet, a groundbreaking binder jetting technology, into its factories to produce functional metal parts for auto and industrial leaders, including Volkswagen and Wilo, and for companies around the world.
Stratasys is furthering its collaboration with Team Penske, a competitive motorsports team that competes in NASCAR, IndyCar and three other racing series. The technical partnership was originally formed in February 2017.
Polish 3D printer manufacturer 3DGence today announced that its INDUSTRY F340 3D printer has received certification from TÜV Rheinland. The company emphasizes that it is the first 3D printer manufacturer in Poland to have been granted this certification.
Researchers from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) have leveraged Optomec’s LENS Hybrid Controlled Atmosphere system in the development of 3D printed dissolvable magnesium structures. The dissolvable components are being investigated for medical applications and, specifically, the production of patient-specific implants.

The AM program, reportedly capable of delivering repeatable, high-quality products that achieve military standard qualifications, is currently being presented at IMTS in Chicago by Aptiv at Carbon’s booth.
Dutch large-format 3D printer manufacturer Tractus3D has entered into a partnership with Papergraphics, a company specializing in large-format printing for the sign and graphics industry. Through the collaboration, Papergraphics is taking on a reseller role with the express goal of promoting 3D printing for sign and graphics applications.
