To kick off our women in AM focus series this month, we spoke to Lee-Bath Nelson, co-founder of LEO Lane, a well-known provider of security and intellectual property (IP) protection solutions for the AM industry. The Israel-based company, founded in 2014, enables manufacturers to not only protect their IP for additively manufactured (AM) parts but to control the use of digital assets, helping to make AM a viable manufacturing solution for industrial applications.

In fact, a growing number of applications are emerging within the different areas of footwear production that increasingly justify the use of more automated, digital and additive technologies.

The recent death of rapper Nipsey Hussle shocked the world, and many mourned the loss of the talented lyricist and community activist, who strove to better the Los Angeles neighbourhood he grew up in. Hussle’s long time partner, Lauren London, received outpourings of support in the wake of his death from the music community and entertainment world at large. Most recently, London received a special gift in memorial of Hussle from Charlamagne tha God: a gold 3D printed pendant of Hussle’s face.

voxeljet opens new Asian facility in Shanghai AM Industry

Voxeljet, a leading manufacturer of sand and polymer binder jetting industrial 3D printers, is officially opening its new 78,000 square foot voxeljet Asia facility in Suzhou, nearby Shanghai (China) on Thursday, May 16th, exactly two years after the first stone was set. The cutting edge additive manufacturing hub will have more than 400 tons of annual 3D printing capacity.

Saudi Aramco acquires 70% majority stake in thermoplastics manufacturer SABIC AM Industry

Saudi Aramco acquires SABIC, as the Saudi OEC company confirmed the signing of a share purchase agreement to acquire a 70% majority stake in SABIC from the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. SABIC, a large petrochemical company, is known in the 3D printing industry as the provider of ULTEM and other thermoplastic filament materials as well as a wide range of composite pellets.
