Baker Hughes and Oqton enter software development agreement AM Software

The agreement will bring together the two companies’ engineering expertise and knowledge of manufacturing to develop an industrial, digital ecosystem that will transform how manufacturers bring their products to market in highly regulated industries such as energy, aerospace, and healthcare. The solution is intended to accelerate the design and production of additively manufactured parts across the entire manufacturing workflow to increase efficiency and facilitate regulatory compliance.

University of Michigan researchers advance 3DCP Materials

Researchers at the University of Michigan have reportedly developed a 3D concrete printing (3DCP) technique that promises better and more environmentally friendly structures, at a lower cost. Architect Mania Aghaei Meibodi and researchers Alireza Bayramvand and Yuxin Lin of the DART lab, at the University of Michigan’s Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, have developed a method for creating ultra-lightweight, waste-free concrete. The method reduces weight by 72% compared to conventional, solid concrete of the same size, and is leading to new partnerships and patents beyond the university.

The University of Bologna hosts metal 3D printing summer course Research & Education

The University of Bologna (Università di Bologna) has just introduced a three-day Summer School focussed on metal 3D printing in construction, which will be held at the university’s Alma Mater Studiorum, on 4-6 July 2023. The course will cost €350,00, and will be hosted by the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering (DICAM). The application deadline is 15 June 2023.

Yesterday, the company issued the following statement: “It is with intense sadness that we announce Dave Ramahi, President and Chief Executive Officer of Optomec, died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home in Boston, Massachusetts. Materialise introduces Materialise Process Control and the BP SDK AM Software

The companies’ collaboration is focused on providing process monitoring for metal 3D printing, through Materialise Process Control – a newly released software solution that enables manufacturers to introduce quality control using data gathered during the 3D printing process. Materialise has also introduced its Build Processor Software Development Kit (BP SDK) – a platform connecting 3D printers with software for data preparation, such as Materialise Magics.
