Relativity Space to move rocket 3D printing factory into new 120,000 sq. ft. HQ Aerospace

Relativity Space, one of the few tech-media-darling 3D printing companies, has moved into a new headquarters located at 3500 E Burnett, Long Beach. The California company employs robotic deposition metal DED additive manufacturing to build an entire launch vehicle: the new 120,000 sq. ft. space will house both business operations and an unprecedented manufacturing facility. Relativity integrates machine learning, software, and robotics with metal additive manufacturing technology and is working to produce its first Terran 1 3D printed rocket, at the Long Beach facility.

Sketchfab introduces 3D model CC0 dedication for cultural institutions AM Software

3D content platform Sketchfab made an announcement this week which will see high-quality 3D scans and models of cultural artefacts become more accessible through its platform. In short, cultural organizations using Sketchfab now have the ability to dedicate their 3D models to the Public Domain using a Creative Commons Public Domain identifier (CC0). As part of the announcement, Sketchfab has also unveiled collaborations with 27 cultural institutions from across the world, including the Smithsonian Institution.

Siemens Mobility brings Stratasys 3D printing to Russian rail industry Transportation

Siemens Mobility Services has announced it will be acquiring two additional Stratasys Fortus 450mc 3D printers to expand part production for the rail industry. To date, the transport company has successfully adopted Stratasys’ technology for the production of rail parts for Germany and the UK, and the new 3D printers will enable it to expand its support of rail maintenance operations in Russia.

Merck and EOS sister company AMCM partner to 3D print tablets Medical

Pharmaceutical company Merck and German custom additive manufacturing specialist AMCM (sister company of EOS) have announced a collaboration through which they will develop 3D printed tablet formulations. The partnership aims to create a tablet 3D printing process that conforms to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards for clinical trials and, eventually, for commercial manufacturing services.
