VELO3D has just announced a new collaboration with Lam Research Corporation, a U.S.-based manufacturer of semiconductors. Through a joint development agreement, the companies will develop new materials and metal additive manufacturing applications for the semiconductor industry. At the core of the partnership is VELO3D’s metal AM technology, the Sapphire 3D printer.
Italian additive manufacturing services BEAMIT and ZARE have today announced a merger through which they will combine their resources to become a single, powerhouse AM service in Europe. The merging of the two additive manufacturing service providers will result in a single organization made up of over 100 employees with operations at five facilities, all located within a 40 km area between Parma and Reggio Emilia in Italy. The new company also has four commercial offices in France, Germany, the UK and Japan.
Chinese 3D printing and scanning company SHINING 3D has opened a new office in Stuttgart, Germany through its European subsidiary, SHINING 3D Technology GmbH. Global standards organization ASTM International has announced that its upcoming event focused on AM – the ASTM International Conference on Additive Manufacturing (ASTM ICAM 2020) – will no longer be held in person in Orlando, Florida and will be hosted virtually. Materials science engineers at the University of Wisconsin–Madison are developing a new, 3D printed artery graft (artificial blood vessel) that allows doctors and patients to keep tabs on its health remotely. The implantable vessel, made of a flexible composite and capable of real-time monitoring, is described in a new study published in the journal Advanced Functional Materials by UW–Madison professor Xudong Wang and graduate student Jun Li.
