Sindoh, the Korea-based specialist of both 2D and 3D printers, is introducing the new Sindoh S100, its first industrial polymer 3D printer based on SLS technology. The Sindoh S100 will also be the first commercially available 3D printer to feature Bluesint PA12 technology to 3D print with up to 100% recycled powder.
COBOD, a company that specializes in 3D printing buildings, printed a concrete two-story building in India made by L&T Construction, a first for the AM industry. COBOD’s expertise as a construction specialist is evidenced by its partnership with GE Additive, where COBOD prints bases for 200-meter-tall wind turbines. The company has also printed 3.5 houses in four days. Its efforts averaged eight square meters an hour on this occasion.
Aprecia Pharmaceuticals, the company behind the first FDA approved 3D printed drug Spritam, has entered into a long-term collaboration with private non-profit research and development (R&D) firm, Battelle.
The Austrian startup Printstones has been developing mobile robotic systems for 3D printing since 2017. After completing more than 100 pilot projects the young firm has now revealed a new prototype: Baubot. This new robot has a modular design approach and is open to external inputs for innovation. The stated goal of the tech company is to bring any tool into any location and utilize it there. This means that 3rd parties can develop and add their tools and applications to the mobile robot. Developers can use an SDK as an interface to the robot’s functionality.
Intech Additive Solutions Pvt Ltd., the first Indian OEM successful in developing and supplying 3D metal printers based on laser powder bed fusion technology (L-PBF) for industrial manufacturing, has received multiple orders of iFusion metal 3D printers in the last quarter of the FY ending March 31st, 2021. The total of the orders amounts to $2 million (US) for the first ‘Made in India’ metal 3D printers
Italian biomedical start-up Exos has debuted its new ‘Armor’ range of customizable 3D printed back braces at the online CES 2021 technology trade show.
Callum Automotive installed MakerBot‘s METHOD X 3D printer to produce functional prototypes, tooling, and production parts. Callum’s luxury automotive design business focuses on luxury vehicles and associated lifestyle brands, including the limited edition Aston Martin Callum Vanquish 25 by R-Reforged.
Fortify has extended the Flux series product lineup to include two new printers and software to allow customers and partners access to develop new advanced materials. Funds from the company’s recent equity round will be used to scale up the manufacturing of these printers for end-use part applications.
Competition is finally starting to pick up in the commercial 2PP nano 3D printing segment. After the segment was long dominated by one company, new systems are now starting to enter the market, including the NanoOne from Austrian firm UpNano, a TU Wien spin-off. Customers from both industry and academia recently acquired NanoOne 2PP 3D printers.
Incus, an Austrian company that produces lithography-based AM solutions, shipped its first Hammer Lab35 system in March 2020 and has since brought the series into full production through 2020. The company has defied the pandemic downturn to bring its product to bear at a time when 3D printing is beginning to be more appreciated by more conventional industry.
