Superstrata Ships First Composite 3D Printed Bike

Superstrata, the company founded by Arevo Labs to commercialize composite 3D printed bikes and e-bikes, has shipped the first Superstrata bike. The bike marks a significant milestone as it represents one of the very first continuous fiber-reinforced composites 3D printed consumer products ever to hit the market. As such it was highlighted by 3dpbm as one of the best 3D printed products of 2020.

The Superstrata manufacturing team has been working non-stop over the holidays to make this happen, from testing, printing, machining, to sanding, painting and assembling. Due to the sheer complexity of the process, as well as the Superstrata team’s determination to make sure that there’s no compromise on the Superstrata, it took a slightly longer time to carry out all the necessary quality tests. The team even printed more prototype bikes to see how the frame would perform under different conditions.

With the first bike delivered, the company now reports that it is now fully in production mode. The company is now already planning to ship more bikes as more printers are built to ramp up manufacturing capabilities.

Towards the end of 2020, Superstrata launched the Superstrata store with custom products and an advanced online configurator on the company’s official portal. In 3dpbm Research’s recently released market report, the composites AM market is expected to evolve into an over $10 billion dollar yearly business opportunity by the end of this decade. Such end-use composite 3D printed products represent a key driver for the rapidly growing, young composites AM segment.

Superstrata’s custom 3D printed unibody thermoplastic carbon fiber composite bicycles and e-bicycles are available for order on its online store featuring the Superstrata Studio, a made-to-order configurator platform. The system allows buyers to input their measurements, riding styles and preferences, desired color/design, and component level to configure their own personalized bicycles.
