3DCompare, a London-based on-demand manufacturing platform, has raised £150k in a seed funding round. The funding will be used to continue development of 3DCompare’s web-based quotation tool for on-demand manufacturing.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
CEO of 3DCompare, Alex Ziff, said, “These are exciting times for 3DCompare. The potential of what we are doing is vast and this is now being picked up on. We will now be able to build on the services we offer to people looking to manufacture virtually anything on-demand.”
“Be it 3D printing, CNC machining , injection molding of CAD designers, customers can rest assured we’ll be able to find the perfect company to produces their ideas.”
Comparing manufacturing
3DCompare launched in 2018, at founding, CEO Ziff said, “Our platform, 3DCompare addresses the need for small batch, prototype printing which is affordable, easy to access and simple to achieve.”
The process requires users to upload either a digital file to 3DCompare or in the absence of that – they can contact the company for design services. The platform uses a pricing algorithm, and then provides a quotation after searching through a database of registered global manufacturing partners. With 11,000 3D printing materials to compare with, 3DCompare has the largest database of 3D printing materials in the market.
In addition to providing quotes, the 3DCompare platform also validates uploaded CAD files by assessing manufacturability.
Manufacturing services currently offered by 3DCompare are CNC machining, injection molding, laser cutting, metal casting, urethane casting, and 3D printing.
Rise of on-demand manufacturing
3DCompare, will use the latest investment to enhance its quotation tool and expand its network of manufacturing partners. Ziff explained, “Partners on our platform benefit from a multitude of new potential customers looking to manufacture parts for a variety of industries.”
“Our platform can help grow your business, exposing a vendor to customers without spending huge amounts on marketing. Furthermore, partners can gain access to our Business service – tools to help improve the overall customer experience of business,”
