NCMS opening AM center in Maryland HEAT Center Marketing and Content

The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) plans to establish a new manufacturing innovation center in Harford County, Maryland. Focusing on developing next-generation industrial additive manufacturing, materials, and processes, this facility will house leading engineers and the world’s most powerful production technology. Collaboration at the center will lead to scientific breakthroughs in metallurgy and plastics, as well as the launch of new factory machinery that will transform the way U.S. producers make aircraft, automobiles, munitions, medical devices, and other products.

CTC to offer EBAM metal printing through new partnership with Sciaky, Inc. Marketing and Content

Sciaky, Inc., a subsidiary of Phillips Service Industries, Inc. (PSI) and leading provider of metal additive manufacturing (AM) solutions, have entered a strategic partnership with Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) to support a growing demand for high quality, large-scale additively manufactured metal parts. INTAMSYS to market industrial 3D printing solutions in Japan alongside Fusion Technology, Canon AM Industry

INTAMSYS, the Shanghai-based producer of 3D printing solutions for PEEK and other high-performance materials, has announced its entry into the Japanese industrial AM market through a new partnership agreement with Fusion Technology Co. Ltd. and Canon Marketing Japan Inc. Together, the companies will work to promote INTAMSYS’ 3D printing solutions and 3D printers to Japanese businesses.

Automotive AM specialist Local Motors forms LM Industries, the ‘world’s first digital OEM’ Additive Manufacturing

Local Motors, the U.S. company behind the 3D printed Strati car and the autonomous Olli shuttle, has been a pioneering force in the intersecting additive and automotive industries. It seems that the company has even higher ambitions than bringing its own innovative vehicles to roads, however, as it just announced the formation of LM Industries Group, Inc., a technology-enabled manufacturer that will work with other companies to develop and deploy mobility products.

France’s AddUp acquires DED metal AM leader BeAM AM Industry

AddUp, the French metal AM solutions company started by Fives and Michelin, has announced its acquisition of BeAM, a Strasbourg-based specialist in Directed Energy Deposition (DED) technology. AddUp says that the 100% acquisition of BeAM will enable it to broaden its existing portfolio of metal additive manufacturing technologies—it now offers both DED metal and powder bed fusion AM—and subsequently better serve the needs of its clients.
