The FIT Additive Manufacturing Group is preparing to install a state-of-the-art hot isostatic press (HIP) with Uniform Rapid Quenching (URQ) from Swedish leader in high pressure technology Quintus Technologies. The press will allow the AM company to enhance its productivity and address the stringent requirements for industry-grade 3D printed metal series parts.
GKN Powder Metallurgy today announced the opening of its new North American Powder Metallurgy Headquarters and Additive Manufacturing Customer Center. The new facility, located in Auburn Hills, Michigan, spans 38,260 square feet and brings together over 80 employees from GKN Powder Metallurgy’s three businesses: Hoeganaes, GKN Sinter Metals and GKN Additive.
Rob Gorham, the Executive Director at America Makes, the U.S.’ National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, has announced he will be stepping down from his position as of May 31, 2019. John Wilczynski, the current Technology Director at America Makes, will assume the position of Executive Director effective June 1, 2019.

PyroGenesis Canada Inc., a company specializing in the production of plasma atomized metal powder, plasma waste-to-energy systems and plasma torch products, has announced the establishment of a new spin-off focused on additive manufacturing powders. The spin-off, dubbed PyroGenesis Additive, was recently approved by the Montreal-based company’s Board of Directors.
AP&C Advanced Powders & Coatings, a GE Additive-owned manufacturer of metal powders for additive manufacturing, has announced it will be expanding its operations in the Greater Montreal area. As part of the expansion, the Canadian company will increase its production capacity and support the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies.
French manufacturer of high-resolution 3D microprinting technologies Microlight3D has acquired Smart Force Technologies (SFT), a France-based producer of maskless lithography systems for micro-scale 2D printing. The acquisition will enable Microlight3D to add 2D printing capabilities to its microprinting portfolio.

Ultimaker, a leader in desktop 3D printing, announced that the Ultimaker Material Alliance Program has now influenced over 80 companies worldwide to develop material print profiles for FFF/FDM 3D printing. Ultimaker first formed the program in April 2018 to meet the growing demand for industrial-grade engineering 3D printing materials.
