The year 2018 is off to a good start for Prodways Technologies with the first sales of the ProMaker LD-10 SLS systems in the early-adopter program for the “compact” dental segment. The company also sold a large format Selective Laser Sintering 3D printer, the ProMaker P4500 HT, in the aeronautics sector.
Sintavia, LLC, a leading Tier One metal additive manufacturer, announced today that it had received internal approval to manufacture production parts for Honeywell Aerospace via the powder bed fusion process, representing the first company to do so. The approval covers all programs within Honeywell Aerospace.
After the first experiment in UK, Polaroid has now fully embraced the 3D revolution by presenting at CES a slew of 3D related products, ranging from a new line of Polaroid 3D printers and 3D pen products for the US and Canadian markets to drones, virtual reality visors, smartwatches action cameras and more. Stephen Erickson was just 13 years old when he fell in love with planes — inside a Boston movie theater. In a deal worth €75 million, ESA ArianeGroup signed a contract last week to develop a full-scale demonstrator of the new, ultra-low-cost, reusable rocket engine known as Prometheus. The engine is set to power Europe’s future launchers and makes intensive use of advanced manufacturing technologies, including 3D printing, to keep costs down and performances up.
3D Hubs Student Grant finalist JetX are a team of aerospace engineering students working with Rolls Royce to create the world’s first functional 3D printed jet engine model to provide instant design feedback. The project started back in 2013 at the University of Glasgow when Chris Triantafyllou the President and Founder of JetX spotted the need for more hands-on learning to get people engaged with the subject. He also saw the need for future engineers to familiarize with concepts such as design for assembly and simulation analysis.
Stratasys Ltd. announced that Spanish aerospace and engineering company, Indaero, has secured new business with several Tier 1 and Tier 2 Airbus suppliers following the use of Stratasys FDM 3D printing for the production of complex tools.
Small satellites provide a responsive alternative to larger, more expensive satellites. As demand grows, engineers must adapt these “nanosatellites” or CubeSats to provide new achievements and goals. One of these achievements is deploying a TubeSat from the International Space Station (ISS). TubeSats are cylindrical and are not compatible with normal CubeSats deployer platform (P-POD) on the ISS. Thus, an innovative nano-satellite, TuPOD (Tubesat-POD), was developed to address the challenge.
GE Additive has acquired GeonX, a privately-owned developer of simulation software. Terms of the deal are not being disclosed.
